MENARA SYARIAH AND INCEIF AFFIRM THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC SOCIAL FINANCE IN NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Menara Syariah PIK2 once again held the second Menara Syariah – INCEIF University Symposium (MSIUS); the collaboration partner INCEIF University is a leading global institution in Islamic finance. Held on August 4, 2025, this symposium carried the theme “Positioning Islamic Social Finance in National Economic Development.”

Following the success of the inaugural symposium last year, which brought together regulators, academics, practitioners, and students from across Southeast Asia, this second edition focused on integrating Islamic finance into national development priorities, including strengthening the real sector, innovations in waqf (Islamic endowment), and digital transformation. The aim is to promote a deeper understanding and practical application of Islamic economic principles in building an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable financial ecosystem. The symposium also serves as a platform for policy dialogue.

Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Dr. H. Anwar Abbas, emphasized the importance of optimizing zakat, infāq, ṣadaqah, and waqf to support the economic mobility of the lower-income population into the middle class, thereby enhancing purchasing power and national welfare. “Today, we are discussing how to elevate the people’s economy, especially those in the lower class. So, how do we address this? Those at the bottom must be able to move upward into the middle class. We hope that our middle class will continue to grow, increasing the public’s purchasing power,” he added.

“We hope this symposium inspires both new partnership ideas and transformative outcomes,” said H. Solichin, Commissioner of PT Fin Cenerindo Satu Menara Syariah PIK2.
This symposium also strengthens Menara Syariah PIK2’s position as the largest Islamic economic hub in Southeast Asia and its commitment, together with INCEIF, to nurturing the next generation of Islamic finance leaders.
