THE BUDDHIST TZU CHI FOUNDATION WITH DKI PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT HANDED OVER 10 KEYS FOR HOME RENOVATION PROGRAM IN NORTH JAKARTA

Since 2006, Tzu Chi has started the "Bebenah Kampung" program by helping renovate residents' damaged and uninhabitable houses into better permanent homes, with the 3S program for a Healthy Environment, Healthy Family and Healthy Economy. In Kamal Muara, Tzu Chi has renovated 30 uninhabitable houses divided into 4 phases starting in 2020.

In Phase 4 in 2024, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation together with DKI Jakarta Provincial Government on 28 March 2024 handed over 10 house keys for the Bebenah Kampung program to beneficiary residents in Hamlet (RW) 04, Kamal Muara, North Jakarta which had been completed in the home renovation process.

This handover ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, Sugianto Kusuma and the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono. "On behalf of the DKI Provincial Government, we would like to thank the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation for the synergy obtained in carrying out home renovations in the area of Hamlet (RW) 04, Kamal Muara, North Jakarta," said Heru Budi Hartono.

Heru also explained that residents whose homes were dismantled not only received decent housing, but were also facilitated by improving their standard of living by providing supporting facilities and infrastructure for doing business, such as being given carts for selling in each house (which was renovated).
One of them is Samsudin Bin Shahrir, a resident of Neighbourhood (RT) 02 Hamlet (RW) 04, Kamal Muara who received a house in the Phase Four of Bebenah Kampung program. Likewise, Hapidin, Ade Sumarni, Andi Nurhaya, and 6 other residents felt grateful because they could experience a new, higher quality residence to live in. After receiving the house keys, Hapidin, who works as a fisherman, was happy to see the results of the repairs to his house.

The Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation and Agung Sedayu Group (ASG) are working together to provide employment opportunities for residents. Where in the future, residents of productive age in Kamal Muara who are not able to find work because they are limited by education or experience, can be employed in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area so that they will not only depend on fishing to meet their daily needs. This is also an effort by Sugianto Kusuma to make Kamal Muara a zero unemployment area.
