SERUNI KABINET MERAH PUTIH COLLABORATES WITH PANTAS GEMILANG INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT SITE TO HOLD AFFORDABLE BASIC GOODS BAZAAR
This bazaar also involved TPST (Integrated Waste Management Site) Pantas Gemilang, a facility supported by PIK2. The collected waste will be directly managed by TPST Pantas Gemilang to be processed into more valuable products. The types of waste that could be exchanged in this event included PET plastic, HDPE plastic, plastic cups, and cardboard paper. Residents who brought waste in these categories could exchange them for affordable basic necessities, such as 1 kg of rice for Rp. 5,000.00 and 1 liter of cooking oil for Rp. 8,000.00.
The purpose of this event was to raise public awareness about the importance of proper waste management and to introduce the role of TPST in supporting a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Additionally, this initiative aimed to encourage behavioral changes in household waste management and reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills.
“We invited 500 residents to collect waste that could later be exchanged for basic goods. In reality, there were 34 neighborhood units (RT) with a total of 796 participants. Here, women were taught to sort waste, introduced to waste banks, and trained in waste bank management. We hope this event does not stop here. The initiative taken by the women of Seruni is truly extraordinary,” said Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, in her speech.
Sri Suarni Bahlil, the Head of Sector 4 of Seruni Kabinet Merah Putih, also explained that SERUNI’s vision and mission align with supporting the government’s work programs by implementing ASTA CITA through community engagement and strengthening patriotism to achieve Golden Indonesia 2045. SERUNI’s mission includes efforts to improve health quality, promote parenting and character education, and conduct socio-cultural empowerment activities. “We are also actively involved in environmental cleanliness efforts, as seen today with the SERUNI women taking direct action in Teluknaga,” she added.
As stated by A Damenta, the Acting Governor of Banten, in his speech, this initiative is expected to bring significant benefits to environmental progress, particularly in fostering greater concern for waste management.
With programs like this, it is hoped that more people will become aware of the important of waste segregation and support the circular economy for environmental sustainability in the future.
