GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR AL-IKHLAS MOSQUE PIK A FUSION OF FAITH, BEAUTY, AND HARMONY
Pantai Indah Kapuk, March 7, 2025 – Agung Sedayu Group officially held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Al-Ikhlas Mosque PIK, located at Simpang Empat – Gate 5, Riverwalk Island, PIK. The construction of this mosque is part of the development of Riverwalk Island, which will feature four places of worship––a Mosque, Church, Vihara, and Temple––as a symbol of tolerance and diversity amidst the city’s modernization.
The event began with a Friday Khutbah by the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, MA, followed by Friday prayers attended by community leaders, religious figures, students from Assalam Islamic Boarding School in Kemiri Sub-District, Tangerang Regency, invited guests, and local residents. The crowd overflowed beyond the event tent, reaching ±1,000 worshippers.
Grand and Comfortable Islamic Architecture
The Al-Ikhlas Mosque PIK at Riverwalk Island is designed with a building area of ±1,248 m2, featuring a Classical Islamic Architectural style that embodies beauty in simplicity. The exterior has a square shape with elegant rows of pillars, while the interior features a circular main prayer hall, creating a unique and serene atmosphere for worshippers.
Beyond the main prayer hall, the total mosque area of ±2,435 m2 includes an outdoor corridor, lush green gardens, and separate vehicle access to ensure maximum comfort for visitors. The mosque will accommodate ±600 worshippers, with an estimated construction cost of Rp. 45 billion. The project is targeted for completion by the end of 2025.
Fostering a Harmonious Religious Life
Al-Ikhlas Mosque PIK is expected to be more than just a place of worship; it aims to serve as a center for community gatherings and inclusive religious learning. Its presence reflects Agung Sedayu Group's commitment to building an environment that is not only modern but also rich in spiritual and cultural values.
Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, MA, stated, “This is the real Indonesia, as it represents multiple places of worship in one location. These are the pillars of the sky that we are building. The more places of worship we construct, the stronger the sky stands. It will never collapse as long as there are people calling upon God’s name under it.”
He also added, “Only those without a conscience would reject beauty. Only those without a heart would feel dissatisfied with the establishment of places of worship in this area. In major cities outside Indonesia, when landing at an airport, one can witness their beauty from above. But 5 years ago, when we flew over this place, what did we see? Piles of trash, blackened water, and extreme filth––there was nothing to be proud of. But now, flying over this location, what do we see? This is like a dream of Indonesia’s future––arriving earlier than expected.”
In his speech, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Nono Sampono, S.Pi., M.Si., as President Director of Agung Sedayu Group, explained that as Pantai Indah Kapuk continues to develop and its population grows, the demand for places of worship also increases. This is why Al-Ikhlas Mosque PIK is being built. “As an additional update for the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, we are also preparing another, larger mosque with a capacity of around 5,000 worshippers at Taman Bhinneka PIK2. We hope there will be no weather or construction delays, so it can be completed as planned by the end of 2026,” he added.
With the commencement of Al-Ikhlas Mosque PIK’s construction at Riverwalk Island, Agung Sedayu Group continues to contribute to creating an area that is not only advanced in infrastructure but also fosters unity, inclusion, and spirituality, for a more harmonious and meaningful life.
