INDONESIA TRAVEL & TOURISM AWARDS 2024 HONORS MORE THAN 50 BRANDS IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY
The ITTA Foundation, supported by Teman Parekraf Nasional and in collaboration with Binus Business School and RajaMICE, proudly presents the “15th Indonesia Travel and Tourism Awards™ 2024/2025” under the theme “Celebrating Indonesia Diversity”, a national-scale event for Indonesia’s tourism industry. Since 2010, over the past 15 years, ITTA has inspired more than 500 tourism entities and over 100 top personalities who have impacted more than 150,000 tourism workers who have worked hard to elevate the quality of Indonesian tourism.
The prestigious 15Th Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTA) 2024, held at Swissôtel PIK Avenue, Jakarta, on December 17th, 2024, was designed to honor key players in the travel and tourism industry who have demonstrated excellence in providing outstanding services, innovation, and tangible contributions to the development of Indonesia’s tourism sector.
The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, B.Sc., the Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy 2020-2024/Member of the ITTA Advisory Board, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A. The awards honored more than 70 categories of winners, including hotels, resorts, tourist destinations, and travel agencies. Winners were selected through a rigorous process involving industry experts’ evaluations, public surveys, and final verification by an independent jury panel.
In his speech, the President of the ITTA Foundation and CCO of TEPANAS (Teman Parekraf Nasional), Panca R. Sarungu, emphasized that the awards aim to motivate and appreciate industry players who continue to contribute to advancing Indonesian tourism despite global challenges. “Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards is a form of appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and innovation of industry players. We hope this award can serve as motivation to continue creating quality services, empowering local communities, and maintaining environmental sustainability.” He also highlighted that 60 brands were recognized during the evening, one of which was the Pantai Indah Kapuk area, now designated as a special tourism economic zone. “We see a new phenomenon for Jakarta, particularly with PIK as an emerging destination. We know there are many new spots here, making it a fresh attraction for Jakarta visitors. So, I congratulate PIK,” Panca added during an interview.
“We hope that the 15Th Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards not only serves as recognition but also motivates the industry, which has successfully rebounded from the COVID-19 pandemic and opened new business and employment opportunities. A total of 250 tourism industry brands registered for the nominations, with more than 50 brands announced as winners. However, in my opinion, the true winner is the tourism industry as a whole,” said Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in his remarks.
At this event, the PIK Tourism Board won the “Indonesia Leading Emerging Tourism Destination” award, received by Fenny Maria, Head of Tourism Development at Agung Sedayu Group. “Our hope, as the Tourism Board specifically for PIK, is to contribute to Indonesian tourism with dynamic developments today and in the future, supported by world-class facilities. This will bring progress and growth in tourism as well as business simultaneously,” Fenny said during an interview.
Dr. Ir. Dewi Tamara, MM., MS., CERA, CBV, Partner Research Associate of the ITTA Foundation and Head of the MM International Program at Binus Business School, stated that Binus Business School has been collaborating with the ITTA Foundation for 15 years. Their role includes validating fair methodology, supporting respondent selection, and verifying questionnaires to ensure winners are properly determined for the ITTA 2024 awards night.
It is hoped that this recognition will inspire and encourage tourism industry players in Indonesia to continue improving service quality for travelers while creating opportunities for collaboration. As Sandiaga Uno expressed through his rhyming couplet: “Go healing after working so hard, traveling with family brings joy to the heart, tourism consistently creates jobs that last, the economy grows, and Indonesia shines steadfast. Rain stops as twilight glows, the rainbow appears in vibrant shows, tourism has emerged as the ultimate winner, may it flourish forever in this nation, forever brighter.”
