On Friday, 25 August 2023, Agung Sedayu Group & Salim Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Taman Doa Our Lady of Akita PIK2 to mark the beginning of the commencement of the construction of a worship facility located next to the Euroasia Shophouse, Osaka Residences, and Osaka Apartment area.

Attended by Board of Directors of Agung Sedayu Group and the guests, the ceremony began with the groundbreaking mass of the Taman Doa Our Lady of Akita PIK2, led by Priest Patrice Juajanan, MSc and Priest Celsius Mayabubun, MSc which was followed by remarks from Natalia Kusumo, as the CEO of Agung Sedayu Group. The screening of the travel documentary video to Akita connects the series of events to the main agenda, the groundbreaking ceremony with the siren turning on to begin the piling.

"Our hope is to facilitate Catholics to pray and worship more easily. Hopefully God's blessings and love can be felt by everyone," concluded Natalia Kusumo.

"The prayer garden in the center of the city means our spiritual life in our busyness in the midst of community development, hence this prayer garden reminds us that in the midst of our business, our work, we leave everything to God," said Priest Patrice Juajanan, MSc.

Inspired by the Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden in Japan which is famous for the statue of the Virgin Mary that sheds tears 101 times. A chapel or church that has a wooden statue of Our Lady of Akita that is exactly the same as the one in Japan, is planned to build in this area, also is The Garden of the Lamb, a prayer garden with 14 stops of The Way of Cross and a Risen Christ Statue, as well as The Garden of Mary, a beautiful lake with a statue of the Virgin Mary in the middle.

The story of Our Lady of Akita will always be a constant reminder of the power of faith and the eternal presence of God in our lives. PIK2 presents the Taman Doa Our Lady of Akita as a tribute to Our Lady and provides worship facilities and makes it accessible for Catholics from both Indonesia and overseas to be able to carry out pilgrimages, and pray in this prayer garden. Hopefully Taman Doa Our Lady of Akita PIK2, can be a blessing to many people.
