DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM OF JAKARTA EXPLORES TOURISM GEMS IN PIK & PIK2
On Monday, January 6th, 2025, the International Marketing Division of the Department of Tourism of DKI Jakarta visited the Pantai Indah Kapuk area to explore and introduce new trending tourism destinations in the region.
Fenny Maria, Head of Tourism Development at Agung Sedayu Group, explained that PIK is not just a residential area but also has a significant socio-economic impact, contributing to the advancement of tourism. “We are fortunate with our proximity to key entry points like Cengkareng and the coastline. This area serves as a new gateway to the Thousand Islands,” she added.
The visit highlighted Jakarta’s top tourism destinations and surrounding areas. Sherly Yuliana, Head of Marketing and Attractions at the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy of DKI Jakarta, emphasized that the main objective of this visit was to review and assess new destinations in Jakarta and its outskirts. These destinations, including PIK1 and PIK2, are being promoted to both domestic and international tourists.
According to Sherly Yuliana, PIK offers comprehensive facilities and continues to progress as an all-in-one tourist destination. This makes it appealing not only for families but also for business travelers seeking MICE facilities. “We want to observe the range of facilities under development so that we can promote these destinations as an integrated part of Jakarta. PIK has the potential to significantly boost tourist arrivals, both domestic and international, contributing to Jakarta’s and Indonesia’s tourism markets,” she added.
Lucky Wulandari, Head of the Subgroup for International Marketing at the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy of DKI Jakarta, pointed out PIK’s strategic location as a key attraction, being only 10-15 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport via toll road.
Lucky Wulandari also highlighted PIK’s unique blend of cultural elements, combining traditional Indonesian culture with international influences. “PIK caters to diverse international tourist preferences by showcasing authentic Indonesian culture–especially from Jakarta and Banten–while also offering familiar elements from their home countries. Visitors can experience cultural nuances from China, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and beyond. This diversity is a major draw of PIK,” she explained.
Destinations such as Ginza Pier, a stunning coastal attraction that will serve as a gateway to the Thousand Islands, and Batavia PIK, which presents the beauty of Indonesian culture, create unforgettable travel experiences. This visit is expected to provide new insights, inspire innovation, and establish PIK as one of Indonesia’s premier tourism destinations on the global stage.
