Banten is one of the provinces that holds religious and cultural values closely in the social life of its people and has been named the first halal industrial area in Indonesia by the Ministry of Industry on 2nd September 2020.

Coinciding with the month of Ramadhan 1445H, Tuesday 2nd April 2024, the Regional Committee for Sharia Economics and Financial Affairs (KDEKS) of Banten Province in collaboration with Menara Syariah, Bank Indonesia, the Sharia Economic Community (MED), and the International Business Association (IBA) took the initiative to organize the Banten Halal Festival Ramadhan: From Banten to the World program which was held at the Menara Syariah PIK2 as a form of KDEKS synergy with stakeholders to support strengthening the halal industrial ecosystem in Indonesia.

The Banten Halal Festival Ramadhan 2024 was opened by the Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin at the Menara Syariah, Pangeran Antasari Street Unit CBD-21, Pantai Indah Kapuk 2, Tangerang Regency. KH Ma'ruf Amin explained that the Government is strongly committed to advancing sharia economics and finance to the global level. Hence, Indonesia's role as a key player in world halal product trading or the global halal hub ecosystem must be strengthened. In this case, Banten has great potential to take part. He also appreciated the execution of the Banten Halal Festival Ramadhan 2024 as a form of increasing inclusion and literacy in sharia economics and finance, especially halal products.

"Implemenation of the halal industry development strategy must be accelerated and its sustainability ensured, so that Indonesia and Banten in particular are able to take part optimally," stressed K.H. Ma'ruf Amin.

Previously, Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar said that the Banten Provincial Government is carrying out various regional developments by relying on the historical aspects of Banten and prioritizing its maritime potential. "We are really encouraging this area where the historical aspects of Banten have always been the center of civilization in various agendas. It is not an exaggeration that Banten is taking the initiative world-based things with Banten basis," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of KDEKS Panten Province Dr. Hj. Siti Ma'rifah SH., MH disclosed that this event was the first activity planned to be held every year. The Banten Halal Festival Ramadhan consists of seminars, talk shows, small and medium enterprise bazaars, fashion shows, Ramadhan tausiah, and social assistance.

"It is hoped that this program will be a manifestation of efforts to make a joint movement to make Indonesia a "Global Halal Hub" which can be realized in the not too distant future," said Siti Ma'rifah.

Present at this event were Deputy Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Nono Sampono, Tangerang Regent, as well as the Commissioner of Menara Syariah, Harianto Solichin and all representatives from various agencies and institutions.
