AGUNG SEDAYU GROUP AND BUDDHA TZU CHI FOUNDATION ORGANIZE THE 6TH PHASE OF BEBENAH KAMPUNG KAMAL MUARA

Jakarta, February 22, 2025 – Agung Sedayu Group, in collaboration with the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation, has once again launched the Village Improvement Program in Kamal Muara, now entering its sixth phase. In this phase, 10 houses have been demolished and will be rebuilt into more suitable living spaces.

Since its inception, this program has successfully constructed 38 livable housing units and renovated Jami Al-Huda Mosque, Nurul Bahar Mosque, and MI Nurul Islam 1 School. In addition to housing development, other assistance has been provided, including business carts, staple food packages for the Kampung Nelayan (Fishermen’s Village) residents, and healthcare services for monitoring the growth and development of children in the area.

The sixth phase of the home improvement program is taking place in Neighbourhood 03 Hamlet 04, Kamal Muara Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, North Jakarta. One of the beneficiaries, Hasnawati (37), a resident of Kampung Nelayan, expressed her deep gratitude for the support she received.

“Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful. My house, which stands on a swamp and recently suffered damage at the back, is now going to be rebuilt. For now, my house is supported only by my younger sibling and my husband. With its thin plywood walls that often shake during heavy rain and strong winds, I frequently feel scared,” Hasnawati shared emotionally.

This program aims to create a more organized and livable residential environment for the community. Jodi, a volunteer from the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation, emphasized the program’s significant impact on local residents.

“We have carried out this community revitalization program multiple times, and the demolition of uninhabitable houses has also been conducted several times. This time, I am once again involved in the demolition process. If we can help rebuild homes in extremely poor conditions, it brings us joy as well. Hopefully, Hasna and other residents will soon be able to move into their new, more comfortable homes,” said Jodi.

With this initiative, it is hoped that the well-being of the surrounding community will continue to improve, fostering a better quality of life for those in need.
