KEMENPAR RI, JAKARTA DISPAREKRAF AND PIK TOURISM BOARD INTRODUCE PIK TO MALAYSIA TRAVEL AGENT

The long holiday season has arrived, and what better place to spend it than Jakarta’s newest tourist destination, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), an area that continues to attract both local and international visitors.

On Friday, June 27, 2025 a Networking Dinner was held: Wonderful Indonesia Journey at Batavia Pantai Indah Kapuk, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf), six travel agents from Malaysia, and 15 travel agents from across Indonesia. During their visit, participants explored the PIK and PIK2 areas and witnessed the various landmarks and iconic destinations across the region. This activity was facilitated by the PIK Tourism Board, which actively promotes the PIK area as a leading tourist destination in Jakarta.

Dedi Ahmad Kurnia, Director of Tourism Marketing for Southeast, South & Central Asia at the Ministry of Tourism, stated that tourism holds great potential to support the development of Indonesia as a nation. “The presence of new attractions and destinations is clearly a strength for Indonesia. PIK has become a new and exciting option for travelers, especially as Jakarta has traditionally relied on heritage-based tourism. With Agung Sedayu’s development of PIK, I believe this is a refreshing change — and as you can see today, it’s full of life,” he said.

He added that PIK plays a significant role in supporting the Ministry of Tourism in providing new tourism products, packages, and attractions that can be enjoyed not only by domestic tourists but also by international visitors — particularly from the Malaysian market. “We hope PIK can elevate the image of Indonesian tourism. It shouldn’t be just about sightseeing and taking photos. Beyond food and shopping, there should also be cultural offerings that enrich the overall experience for visitors,” Dedi said.

He also noted that Indonesia and the global tourism industry have entered a new era — “Tourism 5.0”, which marks a major transformation in travel that emphasizes internet and AI, as well as human values and environmental sustainability. “I think sustainability and cleanliness are now being prioritized, which will make the experience more comfortable for tourists,” he added.

The presence of water fountain shows and musical performances (such as Batavia Tales) at PIK is, according to Dedi, a major attraction that will further entice more visitors to the area.

Fenny Maria, Head of Tourism Development Center of Agung Sedayu Group, also warmly welcomed this activity. “We are committed to continuing collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Disparekraf DKI Jakarta, and various tourism associations in creating programs and introducing Pantai Indah Kapuk more widely, not only to local tourists but also abroad. We hope that the programs we form will not only attract tourists but also have an impact on local economic growth. And through PIK Tourism Board, we want to present a sustainable and inclusive tourism ecosystem,” she said.

Bushtama Sinaga, Managing Director of GSM Travel and representative of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), expressed his support for PIK as a new destination in Jakarta. “We are delighted that PIK has become part of Jakarta’s tourism offerings. This gives travelers more options. PIK is incredibly diverse — it offers health tourism, shopping, entertainment, and in the future, likely water sports as well. We are truly grateful to PIK for creating this new destination hub in the capital city.”

This visit is expected to showcase the beauty and potential of Indonesian tourism — especially in the PIK and PIK2 areas — to both domestic and international tourists.
