BUILDING HOPE AMIDST THE WAVES PIK2 AND HMNI SIGN MOU AND SYMBOLICALLY HAND OVER BPJS CARDS TO 1000 FISHERMEN
A warm atmosphere full of emotion surrounded the TMC Mangrove Hall, Teluknaga, Tangerang, as hundreds of eyes witnessed a historical moment, the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PIK2 and the Tangerang Regency Chapter of The Indonesian Fishermen Community Associaton (DPD HMNI), followed by the symbolic handover of BPJS Employment Cards to 1,000 coastal fishermen on June 18, 2025.
More than just a ceremonial event, this is the starting point of new hope for the fishermen, the guardians of the sea who have been working in silence, risking their lives to bring back catches for their beloved families. In the midst of severe weather challenges and uncertainties of sea yields, the existence of health and old age insurance is a ray of light on the eastern horizon.
In his remarks, Dr. Ir. H. Restu Mahesa, M.M., Director of Estate Management of Agung Sedayu Group, emphasized that this was more than just the signing documents, but also about planting the seeds of prosperity for coastal communities. "This is an important milestone. We are not only building areas, but also building lives. Together with fishermen, we build a better and more sustainable future. We are committed that the development of PIK2 goes hand in hand with improving the welfare of the people around PIK2, especially fishermen," he said with confidence.
This agreement is a strategic step in supporting inclusive and equitable development. A symbol that development not only belongs to cities and concrete, but also to those who live off the uncompromising winds of the sea and waves.
Kasman, a fisherman from Tanjung Pasir, could not hold back his emotion when he symbolically received the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan card. “I am very happy with PIK2 for their help,” he said softly with teary eyes. This is the protection he needs. Because he never knows what is waiting in the middle of the sea.
"In general, we warmly welcome this. Hopefully this collaboration can continue to be improved and carried out so that it can have a broad impact on fishermen, especially the people in the coastal position of Banten," said Bay Adam Hasyim, S.Pi as Head of the Division of Marine Resource Management, Coastal and Small Islands.
This event is not just about a symbol or a piece of card. It's about dignity, about providing a sense of safety for those who work in uncertainties. It's about erasing the boundaries between the world of development and coastal life, so that both can coexist and strengthen each other.
Through this collaboration, PIK2 shows that true development is one that touches the heart, embraces the marginalized, and gives meaning to every step forward. Because fishermen do not only need boats and nets, they also need assurance, attention, and hope. And now, that hope is beginning to materialize, on meaningful paper, and in prayerful hearts.
