DISTRIBUTION OF DONATIONS FROM PINDAPATA AND SANGHADANA ACTIVITIES AMIDST THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY OF BHIKKHU THUDONG 2025

On Saturday, 19 April 2025, the Joint Prayer to Welcome Vesak 2569 BE at Si Mian Fo Riverwalk Island, PIK Jakarta, became a moment full of spiritual meaning and social care. In this event, 38 Thudong Monks from Thailand who were walking to Borobudur Temple were present. People offered food, basic necessities, and financial donations directly to the monks through a procession of Pindapata (Gathering Donations) and Sanghadana (Offering to the Monks). What makes this moment even more special is that 100% of the proceeds from the offerings are not kept, but will later be distributed to underprivileged residents and social institutions that need real help.

This real action illustrates the essence of Buddhism, compassion and solidarity that is not only felt by Buddhists, but also touches hearts across religions. As expressed by Miranda DWK from Agung Sedayu Group, this activity is a reminder to always be grateful and be generous.

The Monks' journey will continue with the Vesak Thudong Puja event on 14 May 2025 at the same venue, reinforcing the message that true spirituality is realized through caring for others and living in simplicity and love. The series of events began with prayers, blessings, and sharing love with Bhikkhu Thudong and Dhammadesana by YM Bhante Phra Khru Wichai. The organizers made sure that the goods and funds collected really reached people who needed a helping hand, such as children in orphanages, as well as underprivileged residents.

Through the spirit of Pindapata and Sanghadana, Bhikkhu Thudong and the people showed that spirituality is not limited to meditation or prayer, but is realized in real action: sharing with others, reaching out to those in hardship, and being a light for those who are in darkness.
