ORGANIC CASSAVA HARVEST ACTIVITY IN URBAN FARMING WITH LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT AND TMD PIK2

Landscape Management PIK2 along with TMD PIK2 organized an Organic Cassava Harvesting event on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The location of the event was at the PIK2 WTP Nursery. This activity aims to make marginal / infertile land areas more fertile.
The event was attended by Yusuf Siregar, Landscape Operation Department Head; Nugroho Adi Putranto, Township Operation PIK2 Division Head; Ruth Tamzil, Creative Director of Amantara; Hadi Kurniawan, Landscape Section Head; and Andries Christian Kangkanu, Service Standardization & Monitoring General Manager.

This was the second harvest activity after the first glutinous corn harvest. In addition to aiming to utilize the PIK2 nursery land and make it more fertile, this activity also utilizes waste such as leaf waste, vegetable and fruit waste around the PIK area to be processed into fertilizer to make the soil more fertile. So that it can reduce waste production and produce sustainability or a sustainable environment.
As Yusuf Siregar explained, “This is the result of collaboration between Estate Management and TMD PIK2, which we have also previously done, namely planting corn. Our hope here is that what we are doing with PIK2 and PIK1 is that we can produce compost in 1 month from leaf waste from the area of 20 tons per month. And vegetable and fruit waste, we can produce VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) around 2000 liters per month. And we apply it all to the area. Where the soil in our marginalized area can gradually become healthy.”

In addition to harvesting cassava, participants in this activity can also feel the euphoria of harvest success by bringing home the harvest. It is hoped that this activity can be the first milestone of urban farming activities in the PIK2 area, and create a better environment.
