FOUNDER OF AGUNG SEDAYU GROUP RECEIVES AN AWARD AT CNBC INDONESIA AWARDS

The leading integrated economic media platform, CNBC Indonesia, held its prestigious annual CNBC Indonesia Awards on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at The Westin in South Jakarta. Under the theme “Embracing Optimism in the New Era of Indonesia”, this event celebrates various business sectors, industries, and influential individuals contributing positively to Indonesia’s economic progress.

Sugianto Kusuma, widely known as Aguan, was honored with the CEO Award in the category of Influential Figure in Property Development. As the visionary behind the success of Agung Sedayu Group (ASG), Aguan’s leadership has propelled the company to become a leading property developer.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to CNBC Indonesia Awards. This recognition is not just an appreciation but also a reminder for everyone at Agung Sedayu Group to continue innovating and contributing to a more advanced Indonesia,” said Miranda DWK, Advertising & Promotion Director of Agung Sedayu Group, who accepted the award on behalf of the company. She emphasized Aguan’s dedication to the property sector as it addresses essential human needs and significantly impacts many lives.

Sugianto Kusuma, born in Palembang, South Sumatra, on January 10th, 1951, began his career as a warehouse keeper and janitor for an import company. A chance meeting with a friend changed his life, setting him on a path to success in Indonesia’s business landscape.

Before becoming the property magnate he is today, Aguan’s entrepreneurial journey started with providing capital to a struggling contractor for a shophouse project, splitting the profits. This venture introduced him to the construction business, and he soon started his own company.

In 1971, as Indonesia’s economy and business sectors began to rise, Aguan seized the opportunity. Starting with small-scale projects, he established Agung Sedayu Group, laying the foundation for his now-thriving real estate empire.

The group’s most renowned projects include Sedayu City Kelapa Gading, Kelapa Gading Square, Pantai Indah Kapuk, District 8 SCBD Jakarta, Puri Mansion, Taman Anggrek Residences, Green Sedayu, and Green Lake City, among others. Over the years, Agung Sedayu Group has become synonymous with excellence in Indonesia’s real estate sector.

In 2021, Aguan expanded his business portfolio through PT Multi Artha Pratama (MAP), acquiring PT Pantai Indah Kapuk Dua Tbk (PANI) in partnership with Salim Group, focusing on the development of the PIK2 area.

Subsequently, PANI continued its corporate actions by conducting capital increases through Rights Issue I amounting to Rp. 6.56 trillion, Rights Issue II amounting to Rp. 10.49 trillion, and a Private Placement amounting to Rp. 6.53 trillion, bringing PANI’s total consolidated equity to Rp. 23 trillion. PANI ranks among the Top 10 issuers with the highest market capitalization in Indonesia, with a Market Capitalization reaching Rp. 322 trillion. As of September 2024, PANI reported total assets of Rp. 44 trillion and total revenue of Rp. 2.1 trillion as of the last September report.

Beyond his business endeavors, Aguan is also closely associated with the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation, a humanitarian organization focused on social welfare. Aguan serves as the Vice Chairman of the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation.

Aguan and his wife, Lin Liping, have been actively involved in social activities with the foundation since they first joined in March 2002. They have made significant contributions to assisting those in need.
