The inaugural event of the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair 2024 (WITF 2024), which was held on 2nd-4th of October 2024 at Swissotel PIK Avenue, Jakarta, was a great success. This event, which was also sponsored by PIK2, succeeded in attracting 195 buyers and 150 exhibitors from 38 countries. 

The event, which was opened on October 2nd 2024 by the General Chair of GIPI, Hariyadi Sukamdani, was an initiation of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs (Kemenkomarves). 

In this inaugural WITF 2024, it consists of several agendas such as B2B Trade Show, Exhibitor Presentation, WITF Conference, Top Tourism Leaders Forum, Wonderful Indonesia Cultural Show and Pre & Post Tour around the PIK1 and PIK2 areas. During WITF 2024, buyers and exhibitors admitted that they were interested and enthusiastic about selling holiday tour packages to Indonesia. 

This B2B event is a place for business meetings between buyers and sellers to collaborate in increasing tourism to the country. Tourism departments from within the country to other countries such as Singapore were also present and got the experience of touring around the PIK area. 

“Hopefully it will become an event that makes Indonesia proud and will be on par with ITB Berlin, WTM London, FITUR Spain, ATM Dubai, MATTA Fair and others,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekfraf), Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A., (Sandiaga Uno) when present on Friday, October 4th 2024. He also admitted that he was proud and appreciated WITF 2024 which was organized by GIPI and hoped that this world-class event could continue. “The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is ready to support together with other stakeholders,” he added. 

The chairman of GIPI, Hariyadi Sukamdani, also expressed his thanks to all parties who have provided support. He hopes that WITF 2024 can be even better and have maximum impact on the economy of the Indonesian people.
