TOWARDS FOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY: SUCCESSFUL FIRST HARVEST OF CATFISH IN LEMO VILLAGE

On November 31st, 2024, the first harvest of catfish cultivation was carried out by the Sejahtera Jaya Group in partnership with PIK2 in Lemo Village, Teluknaga Sub-District. After a cultivation period of approximately 2.5 months, the catfish were successfully grown to high quality and are ready for market, yielding about 200 kg in this initial harvest. This program is part of a community empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening local food security and enhancing the welfare of Lemo Village residents.

During the cultivation process, the Sejahtera Jaya Group received full support from PIK2 in various areas, including the provision of cultivation ponds, high-quality fry, nutritious feed, and a supply of clean water–crucial factors in catfish farming. “Alhamdulillah, the Ketapang Program pioneered by PIK2-Agung Sedayu Group has been very beneficial for the community of Lemo Village, especially for children, as some of our community members are impacted by stunting. I hope this program will not only benefit Lemo Village but also serve the wider community in Tangerang Regency,” said Satria, Chief of Lemo Village in Teluknaga Sub-District.

The Ketahanan Pangan Program (Ketapang) is expected to continue expanding to include other relevant aquaculture commodities for the community. With ongoing support and training, it is hoped that Lemo Village can become a model for food security through fish farming. This program’s presence is intended not only to encourage community self-sufficiency but also to contribute sustainability to their standard of living.
